You don’t outgrow wonder.
Fairy, Quite Contrary began with an English teacher’s love of Shakespeare, poetry, and the lovely things that make an ordinary day feel like your own.
A favorite story. A little needlework. Something made from scratch. A home dressed for the changing seasons. The kind of pleasure that needs no explanation beyond: this makes me happy.
We believe there is room for all of that as we grow older. For playfulness alongside responsibility. For trying something new without having to be good at it. For wearing the dress, making the decoration, and keeping the book you have read a dozen times.
A little contrary. Entirely yourself.
Our fairy is kind-hearted, curious, and quietly her own person. She takes delight seriously. If you have ever felt that you ought to have outgrown the things you love, consider this your invitation to keep loving them.
This is a place for making, homemaking, well-loved words, and the treasures that accompany them. Our shop and cottage notebook are taking shape, one thoughtful little detail at a time.
A little poetry in everyday life.
